Quiet location

Restaurant unfortunately no longer in operation. Very friendly hosts, very quiet and beautiful location. Clean, large and charming room with balcony. Not the most comfortable mattress, but fine for one night. Equipment in the room could be better, it had no soap and no hairdryer. Breakfast was good, you get coffee/tea, orange juice, croissants, bread, cereal, yogurt, jam and butter. Ham, cold cuts and cheese on request.
Very good wifi, plenty of parking. Would definitely come back.

A real gem out of town

We always stay in La Comanella out of season so it's very quiet and service is personal. The lady running the place make you feel at home at once. The lobby and the library are very special and so is the hotel ambience. Rooms are very comfortable. A very nice breakfast and a good thoughtful restaurant with beautiful little garden. A nice outside swimming pool and lot of parking places.

WONEDERFUL WAY TO DISCOVER LUGANO

La Comanella is a wonderful way to discover Lugano - one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Instead of being city center, you are in a quiet, quaint, gorgeous little village above Lugano - but just 5 minutes away. The host is wonderful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Quiet, Quaint & Tranquil

I stayed at the La Comanella to attend a wedding of a friend and the hotel was the venue of the dinner reception and tea ceremony. being in Lugano, naturally my instincts were to choose a hotel that is located at the more central tourist location (ie. near the lake), but I took my friends word for it and took a risk anyway.
my first impression of the hotel is one of indifference having just left the Westin Palace in Milan a few hours earlier. I wasn't particularly impressed that the hotel didn't have Bell Service, a proper Front Desk and Receptions. but all that soon changed when dinner was served in the picturesque courtyard where we were served with pasta, risotto, greens & roast beef. the food screamed homecooked familiarity to it & you can tell that the proprietors put in a lot of effort to preparing this meal. it was to be the feature of my stay here at the La Comanella as day after day we were surprised with homecooked meals cooked fresh either from the cosy little kitchen or at the barbeque pit.
room experience is average if not just below average but the proprietors have provided just enough to obtain the 3-star rating from the swiss hotels agency.
despite it's obvious shortcomings, I was willing to overlook them all as they were many things that I have experienced here (friendly staff, good food, excellent environment, etc.) that made these little nicks & knacks as water under the bridge.

a wonderful place to stay

family's hotel, good kitchen (fresh food every day), huge breakfast served till late, wonderful service (personalized service), owner very kind! A perfect place to stay when you visit Lugano and area!!!
