Worth the effort!

This has the best view of any hotel room I've ever been in. It's like sleeping and waking up in a painting. It's rather large for most Japanese hotel rooms. The only demerit is the size of the bathroom, which will annoy us westerners who are used to larger facilities. However, again, the bathroom is in keeping with the Japanese norm. There is an Onsen as backup.
The whole island is tranquil and relaxing. The food was fresh and exciting. This is a nature lovers paradise, with a very eco-tourist vibe.
Ento is out of the way, and that's its charm.

Setback before visit

I made a reservation, but when I found out that the ferry connection was not going well due to a change in the flight time slot, I called to make the most of the time that was available, either because it was an international flight or because it was not.??? If you only answer the phone after 9 o'clock, you can't help but call me back, and even if you make a reservation within the time, you can press this number, and if you are a travel agent, you can press this number, and even if you press various numbers, you will be directed to the mail and you will not be able to connect. I pressed the travel agency's number as a means of saving money, and it was finally connected. In any case, the hotel doesn't have a concierge function, and the guests are told to think about their own place because it's amazing, so I canceled it.

Delightful experience

This modern hotel offered everything a guest would want: friendly English speaking staff, ocean front views, steps from the Ama ferry terminal and a guided walking tour around the property. Although we did not understand Japanese, it gave us an opportunity to appreciate the geography of this area. The highlight of our stay was the omakase dinner for 110,000. Yen. The chef kindly explained every dish. Be sure to reserve ahead for this delicious experience. The hotel even offers a night boat excursion to see glowing sea creatures. However, it was canceled due to high winds.

The Wedding Adventure

We spent 3 nights on islands of Ama and Nishinoshima for a Traditional Japanese Wedding and it was an experience beyond all expectations. We stayed at the Marine Port Hotel and found the staff to be very accommodating and welcoming. The facilities were very comfortable.
The wedding was planned by the island tourism staff. They and the island residents treated the entire group with hospitality beyond any we have ever encountered. Nicola, our local contact/wedding planner, was phenomenal in the face of many changes in plans due to weather and or other situations that would derail many other events. Her ability to translate and work between the many people involved made this event extraordinary.
The food that the hotel provided was delicious, with a taste of the islands that made it extra special. (try the Oki beef again and again...). The Onsen was a traditional delight to experience too!
We would highly recommend this place as a spot for a destination wedding, or just a visit. It was an adventure worth the time!

Stunning View

This hotel was thankfully walking distance from the port. It was nice to take a relaxing 5 minute walk after feeling a little sea-sick on the ferry.
The hotel faces the water and from the window of our room you could see the stretch of ocean between us the the neighboring Nishinoshima Island. It was beautiful! Especially at sunset, but I unfortunately was unable to take photos.
The room we had was a twin and was lovely and big for two people. The staff were helpful when we had an issue with one of our party's computer charger. The diner and breakfast we had was traditional Japanese fair, but well prepared and very tasty. I highly recommend this hotel if you're going to be staying on the island!
